402. Extreme Connecticut Geography Tour!

Connecticut Museum Quest

Join Steve Wood (father of Damian) in an attempt to do something slightly crazy, kind of silly and definitely unique. This is something Steve has thought about doing for a while now and we’re pretty sure no one has attempted before. Heck, it may very well get us some press.

Beginning in either northeastern or northwestern Connecticut, we will attempt to reach the following extreme geographic points in the state in one day: The CT-RI-MA tri-point marker, the easternmost point of CT, the largest beach, CT’s only tombolo (depending on tide chart), southernmost point of CT (requires boat ride), westernmost point of CT, the largest lake in CT, the largest waterfall in CT, the deepest lake in CT, the highest point in CT, the CT-MA-NY tri-point and the northernmost point in CT.

In all, this excursion requires about 250 miles of driving with Steve (not including to and from the beginning and end of our day), early morning punctuality, and about 12-14 miles of total hiking, a few of which are steep and rugged. Please be in hiking shape and bring proper supplies. Meals may be on-the-go, but they will be provided. Bonus: A full day of endless tidbits about Connecticut that you never thought you wanted to know, but will be happy once you do. Prepare to become famous!

This excursion will occur sometime TBD between May-July 2012. Plenty of time to prepare mentally and physically. No more than a group of TWO please.
